If you are using any of the “commercial” learning Spanish courses you may have already experienced this problem.
And if you haven’t then I should prepare you now so that when it happens to you it will not come as a complete shock to you.
The Spanish that is taught in “commercial” Spanish courses will NOT prepare you to communicate with native Spanish speakers. Native Spanish speakers may be able to understand you when you speak to them with your “commercial ” Spanish. In fact, if you are lucky – I mean really lucky – You may even be able to understand them when they speak to you.
Here’s why . . . .
Have you ever had a non-native English speaking person ask you for directions?
If so, then you probably spoke very clearly and slowly so that the person understood everything that you are saying. Well, native Spanish speakers do the same when speaking to us. That’s the reason why you may have found yourself able to understand certain native Spanish speakers.
But I guaranty you one thing.
If you are using one the popular Spanish courses advertised in mass media, you will have absolutely no idea what native Spanish speakers are saying once they start talking to their friends and family members in Spanish.
Maybe you have already had this same experienced that I had.
I remember when I first start learning Spanish and I was using a popular “commercial” Spanish course. I went to one my favorite restaurants to enjoy a Mexican dish of food. I communicated with the “mesera” or waiter so well. I understood everything she said and she understood that I said to her.
I asked her how she liked her job, where was she from. I even managed to ask her questions about her family. I could have patted myself on the back for understanding her responses so well. But then when she turned to speak to a co-worker in Spanish, I was completely lost. She might as well have spoken to her co-worker in Japanese because I understand absolutely nothing that they were saying to each other.
I can also remember my first trip to Mexico. I remember arriving feeling so confident about my ability to speak Spanish after spending my hard earned money on a commercial Spanish course and spending countless hours studying with the course. The very first person that I had a chance to test-drive my Spanish with was the cab driver. The conversation was going well at first because I was the only one speaking. But as soon as the Mexican tax driver opened his mouth to respond, once again, I could not decipher a single word or phrase the he has saying to me.
And the Spanish that I learned from “commercial” Spanish courses, has also caused me to experience problems on a more personal level.
At one time I had a significant other who was a native Spanish speaker. And we had little or not trouble communicating with each other in Spanish. But as soon as she started to communicate with her friends or family members, once again you I was absolutely lost. And one point I even asked myself “why don’t I understand them after spending hundreds of dollars on Spanish courses and spending hour s and hours learning Spanish.”
If you ever had the same or a similar problem then you know the frustration that I am talking about. Not only the frustration that comes from wasting hundreds and hundreds of dollars on learning Spanish with “commercial” courses – but also the time and effort that you waste learning Spanish that’s useless.
I remember questioning myself and even asking myself did the problem have anything to do with my ability or lack of ability to learn a foreign language.
But I want you to know right now that you are not the problem. The student or the learner is not the problem. The commercial Spanish course that you are using is the problem. It simply was not designed to prepare you to understand normal everyday conversational Spanish.
How could you possibly expect to effectively communicate in Spanish after using a course that was only designed to teach you the bare essentials of the Spanish language.
That’s right. You heard me correctly. The commercial Spanish courses on the market will only teach you the bare essentials of the Spanish language. I know because after combining and using ALL of the commercial Spanish courses on the market, I knew how to say the following in Spanish:
- I speak Spanish
- I spoke Spanish
- I used to speak Spanish
- I am speaking Spanish
- I am going to speak Spanish
- I will speak Spanish
I even knew how to say, “I have spoken Spanish. “
But in a normal regular everyday conversation, I was completely speechless and stood there looking stupid with my mouth open trying to figure out what to say every time that it was necessary for me to say any of the following:
- I had spoken Spanish
- I will have spoken Spanish
- I would have spoken Spanish
- I could speak Spanish
- I could have spoken Spanish
- I should have spoken Spanish
- I was speaking Spanish
- I was going to speak Spanish
- I will be speaking Spanish
Not a single “commercial” course helped me with the phrases. In fact, using all of the commercial courses COMBINED, I still could not say any of the above phrases in Spanish.
But after all, how well can I expect to converse and communicate in Spanish after using “commercial” Spanish courses that were only designed to teach the bare essentials of the Spanish language.
And that’s not the only problem . . .
Not only are the “commercial” Spanish courses NOT designed to teach you to UNDERSTAND everyday conversational Spanish, they are also not designed to teach you how to SPEAK it.
The “commercial” Spanish courses teach both vocabulary and grammar that native Spanish hardly ever use. .
If you have ever given the Spanish that you have learned from a “commercial” Spanish course a real test drive then you know exactly what I am talking about.
One popular “commercial” Spanish course taught me that when I am introduced to someone for the first time that I should reply with “encantado.” No one says that in Latin America unless they are trying to impress someone. After enduring countless snickers and smirks, I finally discovered that native Spanish speakers simply say “mucho gusto” when being introduced to someone.
Like I said, not only do the “commercial” Spanish courses teach vocabulary that native Spanish speakers from Latin American never use, the grammar is also useless.
Without mentioning any names, one very popular “commercial” Spanish course had me spend hours and hours learning the Spanish progressive tense. The progressive verb tense is the English verb tense that ends in “ing.” But in Spanish, the progressive verb tense is hardly ever used.
Unfortunately, I did not find this out until after numerous occasions, where I told people things such as “ahora estoy saliendo” for “I am leaving now.”
I don’t know how many times I said that phrase before a native Spanish speaker felt sorry for me enough to say to me “that’s not how we say it. We say ‘ya me voy’”
So there are really THREE problems with the “commercial” Spanish courses on the market:
they do NOT teach you how to UNDERSTAND normal everyday conversational Spanish when a native Spanish speakers speaks the language.
the “commercial” Spanish courses do NOT teach you how to SPEAK normal everyday conversational Spanish.
they only teach you the bare essential of the Spanish language.
But today, I am going to show you how to solve this problem. Today, you will discover how to speak and understand real Latin American conversational Spanish. You will soon learn how to fully communicate with native-Spanish speakers – and ensure yourself that you understand them and that they understand you – 100%.
After spending thousands of dollars on the different commercial Spanish courses and spending countless years studying Spanish, I discovered that the Spanish courses on the market did not teach me the type of Spanish that would empower me to effectively communicate with native Spanish speakers.
Sure, Spanish speakers could understand me. And when they spoke to me I was able to understand a pretty good amount of what they said to me. But once I heard a Spanish speaker speaking to one of their friends in Spanish, it was all Greek to me.
I had wasted so much money learning Spanish that was anything but everyday conversational Spanish. Or the type of Spanish that native Spanish speakers use. So much of the vocabulary that I had learned was useless. And so much of the grammar that I had learned was also useless.
And for the most part, the Spanish that I heard learned in all of the commercial Spanish courses that I had used, was nothing more than very basic Spanish. Not nearly enough to effectively communicate with Spanish speakers.
That’s when I decided that there had to be a better way. Somehow. Some way there had to be a method to learn how to speak real conversational Latin American Spanish. The type of Spanish that native Spanish speakers use in their day-to-day conversations.
So I searched for the best native Spanish speaking instructors that I could find. And then I shared with them the most effective foreign language self-study techniques that I had learned from spending thousands of dollars and many years of studying Spanish on my own. And with me, they shared their insider’s knowledge of authentic conversational Spanish.
And I insisted that they did NOT hold anything back. I wanted nothing but truly authentic Latin American Spanish. The kind of Spanish that they used to speak to each other. The type of Spanish that I could use to effectively speak to any native Spanish speaker:
- Dominicans on the streets of New York City. My home city
- Mexicans who I met when I vacationed in Mexico
- Spanish speakers from Central America and South America who were clients of my New York City Law Practice
- Colombians – The people of the country where I had always dreamed of living
So by combining my knowledge of the most effective foreign-language self study techniques with their insider’s knowledge of real conversational Latin American Spanish, the Learning Spanish Like Crazy System was born.
That was over 6 years ago.
Today, the Learning Spanish Like Crazy system has not only taught tens of thousands of people all over how to speak real Latin American Spanish. This system has also enabled me to realize my dream and retire early from the practice of law and move to the city of my dreams. The city known as the city of eternal spring : Medellin, Colombia which I now call my “hogar” or “home.”

Be honest with yourself. If you were truly happy with your ability to speak Spanish you would not be watching this video presentation right now. If you do not invest in the Learning Spanish Like Crazy System what makes you think tomorrow will be any different from today. It’s not.
If you are unhappy with how speak Spanish today and you do NOT invest in this System, then tomorrow you will continue to be unhappy with how well or how badly you speak Spanish.

And if you think by continuing to use the same “commercial” course that you are using today, that you will miraculously begin speaking Spanish like a native Spanish speaker, then you are fooling no one but yourself.
