Today you will learn two useful and helpful Spanish phrases that I heard two “niños” (boys) say in the “parque infantil” (playground) in front of my building today.
The two little boys were racing down the “lisadero” (sliding board). By the way, “lisadero” is the word that they use in Colombia for “sliding board.” In other parts of the Spanish speaking world you may hear “tobogán” or “resbaladilla.” But in Colombia the “niños” say “lisadero.”
When the two “niños” raced down the sliding board to see who would arrive first, the smaller of the two arrived at the bottom first and he yelled “Yo gané” (I won.)

And then they raced again. And this time the taller one arrived at the bottom of the slide first and he shouted “estamos a mano” (we are even).
And then they raced down the slide a third and final time and it was a tie, and they both yelled out “estamos empatados” (we are tied).
