1. Cuña (de puerta)
A “cuña (de puerta)” is known in English as a “doorstop.” But some English speakers would refer to a “cuña (de puerta)” as a “door wedge.” That’s because it consists of a wedge that you put between the base of the door and the floor in order to keep the door from closing because of the wind, a breeze, etc.
“Cuñas” are usually made of “goma” (rubber) or “madera” (wood).
***Be careful not to confuse how to say cradle in Spanish or the words “cuña” and “cuna.” The former is a door wedge and the latter is the Spanish word for baby’s cradle.
2. Tope (de puerta)
A “tope (de puerta)” is also what some English speakers would call a “doorstop.” But the type of doorstop that’s a device for preventing a door from striking a wall, such as a small rubber-covered projection.
