How To Say To Wear For the First Time In Spanish
Here’s a Spanish word that I don’t see in many Spanish books but I commonly hear it used by Spanish speakers: estrenar
“Estrenar” means to wear for the first time or use for the first time. I don’t think we have an equivalent verb in English for “estrenar.”
Anoche, estrené la camisa.
Last night, I wore the shirt for the first time.
Hoy, estás estrenando la gorra de béisbol.
Today, you are wearing the baseball cap for the first time.
“Estrenar” can also mean “to perform for the first time.”
La compañía de teatro estrenará la nueva obra la semana que viene.
(The theatrical company will perform the new play for the first time next week.)

How To Say To Wear For the First Time In Spanish
On more than one occasion, I have heard a native English speaker make the mistake of confusing the Spanish verbs “estrenar” and “extrañar.” The former means “to wear for the first time.” And the latter “to miss.”
“Por ejemplo” (for example):
Te extraño.
I miss you.
In Latin America, you may also hear the phrase “me haces falta” used in order to say “I miss you.” And in Spain, they say “te echo de menos” in order to say “I miss you.”
